Reunion of the Presidency of the Interreligious Council of Albania

After several meetings and working meetings, the highest leaders of the religious communities of Albania have gathered today on october   22.2018 in the Center of the Muslim Community of Albania, where some important decisions have been taken, regarding the well-functioning and some statutory changes of the Interreligious Council of Albania, established in 2007 by the traditional religious communities in the country.
The meeting held today was attended by H. Skënder Bruçaj, President of the Muslim Community of Albania, His Beatitude, Anastas Janullatos, the head of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, Mons. George Frendo, the head of the Catholic Episcopal Conference of Albania, H. Dede Edmond Brahimaj, the head of the Bektashi World Headquarters, and Pastor Ylli Doçi, president of the Evangelical Brotherhood of Albania.
During this meeting, in addition to the statutory changes, several decisions were taken regarding some changes in the institutional governing aspect of the Interfaith Council, an institution which consists of the Presidency Council, the Executive Council and the Secretary General.
The highest decision-making body of the IRCA  is the Council of the Presidency, which consists of the Presidents of the religious communities, participants of the Center, while the Executive Council consists of two members for each community.
The President of the Presidential Council has a one-year term and the leaders of the religious communities will have this rotating task. For this mandate was appointed the head of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, His Beatitude, Anastas Janullatos, while the general secretary was elected Dr. Genti Kruja with a three-year term.
In this meeting was also decided the publication of various literatures, which will reflect the inter-religious activity in Albania, as well as periodic meetings according to the statute of IRCA The Inter-Religious Council of Albania has as its mission the promotion of inter-religious dialogue and harmony, through joint projects and activities.
