Today, May 28, 2022, is the 196th anniversary of the "Baba Sako" Tekke, in Luzi i Madh, Rrogozhinë. Local Bektashi believers, but also from other parts of Albania, gather today in this Bektashi cult object, on the traditional, annual day of pilgrimage.
This village is located in the village of Luzi i Madh, Lekaj Administrative Unit, Rogozhinë Municipality.
It is thought to have been built around 1826 and is dedicated to Baba Sako, a warrior who distributed water and got the name 'Sako'. Baba Sako is an early missionary originally from Khorasan in Persia. The last name Sako was taken from the word Saki from Persian and also in Turkish as a loanword: which means dividing water, one who serves with glasses, wine-dinner, who carries and sells water.
... He got the surname Baba Sako because he served in providing water and helped the people, charity. He served in many countries of the Balkans and then settled in the Luz i Madh. He worked devotedly in the spread of Bektashism, preaching the love of the Great God and the love of the country. He raised the teke in this village and approached many believers and well-wishers, becoming well-known in the entire area of Kavaja. When he passed away, the residents raised a tomb in his honor. Abdullai (Xhani) ran this dervish teqe since 1829 and until he passed away. He has his history with Xhefai Baba of Teqe e Madhe Elbasan, whom, in 1826, he accompanied to Frashër. Dervish worked with dedication in his tribe, in the Hysaj, Aliaj, Dullaj and Kalaci tribes. For his good work, behavior and contribution to the Great Luz, he was received with honors by his opponent, see Hamid of Kavaja, and good relations also began with the Halveti tariqat. This is how the Bektashi tradition continued in Kavaje. In 1950, Father Mustafa Panariti led this community. The facility was closed in 1967 by the state of the time. It was reopened in 1998 with a beautiful shrine, which plays an important spiritual role for all believers in the Kavaja area. On every 28 May, an annual pilgrimage is organized here.
