Dear Bektashi brothers in all our communities! These days, the friend, father, brother and devout believer, Mr. Muharrem Xhaferri, in Toronto, in distant Canada passed away . Muharremi was born in the village of Picar in Gjirokastra in 1936. Together with his parents' patriotic spirit, he enjoyed the wonders of the Bektashi tariqat since his childhood. Father Hasani's tekke in Picar, like every tekke of Gjirokastra's Quarter and the whole of Albania, attached special importance to the education of the younger generations. Muharrem Xhaferri, since his youth and until he left this world, has been and remains the permanent friend of that community. Especially after the 90s of the last century, Muharrem Xhaferri joined the large group of Myhibs and Bektashi benefactors who support with every means, our dervishes and fathers, both in the reconstruction of the objects of worship and in the continuous revitalization of the tariqat. This continued until 2002 when he immigrated to Canada with his family. Energetic and full of ideas, with his mind and heart always for Albania, Muharrem Xhaferri remains today, the epitome of tireless and patriotic activity. In the years 2003-2008, for his outstanding contribution, he was elected for two consecutive terms as president of the Canadian Albanian Association based in Toronto, devising, organizing and representing many important activities of this association. At the same time, Muharrem did not sever his spiritual ties with Bektashism for reasons of the moment. He has participated in many Bektashi activities organized in Albania, Canada and the USA, contributing with his knowledge and long experience. In 2012, he organized the Albanian Bektashi community in Canada, and at the head of this community, he made known the presence of our tariqat in the state mechanisms of this country. In close cooperation with our Holy See and with constant communication with the Grandfather of the World Bektashi, his Grace, Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj, has been able to keep alive the spirit of peace and brotherhood of our tariqat, making it possible to unfold the most important values. wife of Haxhi Bektash Veliu.
