The Inter Religious Council of Albania was established on October 22, 2007 by the four leaders of the traditional religious communities in Albania, H. Selim Muça, His Beatitude Anastas Janullatos, Mons. Rrok Mirdita and H. Dede Reshat Bardhi.
The founding ceremony of IRC of Albania took place in the presence of the President of the Republic Prof. Dr. Bamir Topi, who said, “Inter Religious Council of Albania institutionalizes religious tolerance in Albania. This is our common value and this is our rare virtue, which we will not only export wherever we can, but we will gladly share it with other countries and peoples around the globe. That is why I am here today, not only to celebrate the opening of a Council so necessary and useful for the well-being of inter-religious relations in our country, but also to assure you about the unwavering personal and institutional support during your so valuable undertaking. important in the service of peace, goodness, coexistence and inter-religious tolerance ”.
The mission of the Council is to promote interfaith dialogue, through joint projects and activities.
It functions as an institution, which coordinates the cooperation between the clergy in the service of coexistence between them.
Albania is a unique case, as a multi-religious country where trust is respected and relations between communities are cooperative. This statement is made not only by Albanians, but also by many foreign experts and researchers in this field.
