Ashura

The tenth day of Matem, to give an end to this fasting period, there is a last ceremony in the masjid, where the belivers drink the water of life, the sherbet (water with sugar), then the Ashura is done in fire and the next day is continues as “The Ashura Day”. The Ashura is the special sweet that takes the name of this day. The tenth day means Ashure, which is the commemoration of the death of Imam Hysen in Qerbela. Ashura is cooced with wheat, water, starch, legumes, corn, dry figs, dry grapes, walnuts, sugar  (or honey, natural sugar, cider), cinnamon. In the religious ceremony there are loud recitations where are said prayers in a mourning silence. After that there are done visits, where everyone tastes the Ashura, and name the Qerbela hero, Hysen.
