World Grandfather, Dede Edmond Brahimaj
At the farewell ceremony to the last home of father Abdyl Shehaj, spoke the Bektashi World Grandfather, His Holiness, Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj, who, among other things, said: “Our brother, the clergyman Abdyl Shehaj, left the material world to unite with pure souls, leaving behind the example of piety, devotion to the path of Haxhi Bektash Veliu, the precious religious and patriotic contribution of our peaceful faith. Father Abdyl Shehaj was born on May 16, 1948 in the village of Rabija-Tepelena. He continued his schooling in the village of Peshk in Martanesh, next to his uncle, father Hasim Shehaj. In this tekke, he took the Bektashi spirit and learned many of its rituals and codes. After the advent of democracy, the clergy, Father Bajram Mahmutaj and Father Sherif Canometaj, came here, with the idea and holy spirit, to revive this tekke. Further, grandfather Reshat Bardhi, sent here dervish Xhelal, who together with father Abdyl Shehaj, gave life to these historic walls from 1995 until today. Father Abdyli worked diligently to give value to the traditional heritage of the Kostan tekke, which in history has left traces not only as a tekke of Bektashi spirit and fire, but also as a hearth of patriotism, where her fathers worked for the Bektashi mission and with the motto that “Without a homeland there is no religion”. … He took special care of the Rabija tekke. In recent years, father Abdyli has been aggravated by the disease, for which he was treated both in Albania and abroad. At all times, we stood by our brother to alleviate his suffering. Despite his poor health, Father Abdyli took care of and continued to work on the concerns of tekkes and tombs in Tepelena. But the disease did not leave him alone and today he passed away. Baba Abdyli was calm and with his work he had won the respect and love of the believers of the tekke of Koshtan, Memaliaj and all of Tepelena. The separation from this life of our brother, father Abdyl Shehaj, is a loss for all of us Bektashi believers wherever they are, at the same time an obligation to work harder, together with the myhib, the clergy, the benevolent believers, to further the mission. religious and patriotic Bektashi… ”
