The Presidency Board of the Interreligious Council of Albania has held today on january 16.2020, the next and first meeting for 2020.
Thus, the meeting was attended by the leaders of the five religious communities in the country, co-leaders of IRCA, H. Bujar Spahiu, chairman of the Muslim Community of Albania, His Beatitude Anastas Janullatos, head of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, Mons . George Frendo, head of the Episcopal Conference of Albania, H. Dede Edmond Brahimaj, head of the Bektashi World Headquarters, and Pastor Ylli Doçi, president of the Evangelical Brotherhood of Albania.
The interfaith meeting held at the Synodal Center of the Orthodox Church was opened by His Beatitude Anastas Janullatos, at the same time the acting head of the Interreligious Council of Albania, who thanked everyone for the joint commitments for the past year, 2019. On after and according to the rotation approved by the Board of the Presidency, he has handed over the task of the head of IRCA to Mons. George Frendo, at the same time President of the Episcopal Conference of Albania, who will chair the presidency of IRCA for 2020.
The meeting continued according to the agenda, the agenda of which was announced by the Secretary General of the Interfaith Council Dr. Genti Kruja, who presented the one-year report of IRCA. Among other things, he mentioned that the year 2019 has marked a period with many commitments.
Thus, in 2019, two important agreements were signed, the first with the international organization "Religions for Peace", where thanks to this agreement the Interfaith Council has been part of several international meetings and conferences in Germany, Belgium, Poland and the USA. Through this cooperation it was possible to finance a project, through which, were organized for the first time the National Consultations of the Interreligious Council on 20 and 27 June 2019, from which came some important recommendations, which were sent to the X World Assembly, held in August last year in Germany, where KNFSH was participating with its delegates.
Another agreement related to IRCA was the one with CVE, the office of the Prime Minister, which is engaged in the fight against radicalism and violent extremism, with which several seminars and trainings in this field have been held.
One of the most important decisions taken by the Presidency Council during 2019, was the decision to establish the Department of Women and the Department of Youth.
Another field of activity has been the sensitivity of KNFSH to the delicate situations in the country, coming out with some press statements.
During 2019, two meetings of the Presidency Council were held, three meetings of the Executive Council and one meeting of the Department of Women and one with the Department of Youth.
Following the meeting, the financier of KNFSH, Mrs. Shelda Agaraj has reflected the full detailed financial report of the Interreligious Council for the last 8 months.
Members of the Presidency Council during this meeting also discussed some important issues related to the ongoing commitments of the ICF, as well as some changes in the statute regarding the possibility of publications by the Interfaith Council of Albania
