Today, the Grandfather of the World Bektashian, His Grace, Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj, participates in the opening of the National Academic and Scientific Book Fair, an activity held in the premises of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Albania.
The organizers argued that this activity is an excellent opportunity to create a new relationship between publishers and readers, and this goes in line with our strategy of general openness to the scientific research system and to all factors that are interested in to become part of it.
The Nationwide Academic and Scientific Book Fair was opened today, at 10:00 a.m., in the open premises of the Academy of Sciences by the Chairman acad. Skender Gjinushi.
During the opening ceremony where more than 35 publishing houses from Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and beyond were present, the President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, acad. Mehmet Kraja. The welcoming speech was read on behalf of the Ministry of Culture by Mrs. Alda Bardhyli and the greeting speech on behalf of the Conference of Rectors by prof. dr. Andrea Maliqari (rector of U.P.T.). Academicians, researchers from all fields and students and school students were also present.
The "Nationwide academic and scientific book fair" takes place for the first time this year, as a joint initiative of the Academy of Sciences of Albania and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo. The fair will take place alternately, one year in Tirana and one year in Pristina, with regular periodicity. The fair takes place in the period April 22-24, when World Poetry Day and World Book and Copyright Day are celebrated. The purpose of the fair is to make known the best quality achievements in academic, scientific and university publications.
By its very nature, the academic and scientific book has a more difficult path to reach the reader, compared to literature and the arts. This is one of the reasons why it was thought to have a dedicated fair, in order to bring the scientific and academic book closer to its readers and facilitate communication between them. At the same time, the academic and scientific book fair will have a promotional and celebratory character, because it will enable the presentation in quantity and quality of scientific publications and their authors throughout the Albanian space, aiming that in the future they will also be present publications from albanological centers in the world.
We want to influence through the fair to create a network of scientific book publishers, in universities and institutes throughout the country; network that will facilitate obtaining information and further exchanges, especially of scientific periodicals, which for now remain within the institutions that publish them. Researchers need to know each other and the best way is through publications. The scientific book has entered a path of codification and assessment with unified European and world standards. It is impossible to claim credit in this process without an internal promotion of our publications. Nowadays, it is intended that the publications be accessible with complete freedom of communication not only within the language, but also on an international scale. The fair will be one more motivating factor to promote achievements in this field.
The first fair dedicated to academic and scientific books
The first fair dedicated to academic and scientific books takes place this year, within the framework of the Year of Albanian Academicism, announced in honor of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Academy of Sciences of Albania, as a joint initiative of it and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo.

The organizers want that through the fair we influence to create a national network of scientific book publishers, first of all universities and other specialized institutions; network that will facilitate obtaining information and further exchanges, especially of scientific periodicals, which for now remain within the institutions that publish them. Researchers need to exchange scientific information to quickly recognize each other's works. And the most fruitful path is recognition through activities such as fairs, which mark public manifestations for the book.
The scientific book that is published in the Albanian space has entered a path of codification and evaluation with unified European and world standards. It is impossible to claim appreciation in this process without an unlimited internal promotion of them. Nowadays, it is intended that the publications be accessible with complete freedom of communication not only within the language, but also on an international scale. This first fair will be another driving factor to inaugurate the annual achievements in this field.
