Today, the traditional Bektashi pilgrimage to Velabisht, Berat

Today, on Saturday, September 25, 2021, was commemorated the traditional pilgrimage in the tekke (tomb) of Velabisht in Berat. Veliabisht tekke is located in the south of Berat, Veliabisht village, Veliabisht Administrative Unit, Berat Municipality, ruins. The exact date of its establishment is not known, but it must be early. It is thought to have been founded in the middle of the century. XVII. It was a large and beautiful tekke, with all the necessary Bektashi characteristic rooms. It became an important center in the Ottoman period. Father Kamberi who served there,  was also the commander of the freedom squad. During the years 1905 - 1912, he collaborated with the father Medin Gllava, of Skrapar in the area of ​​Shpirag and Tërpan. Father Kamberi was in defense of the Assembly of Sinj, July 1912 with other detachments in the area of ​​Berat, Skrapar and Tepelena. He also collaborated with Baba Dudë Karbunara, Kristo Luarasi, Iljaz bej Vrioni, Sul bej Resuli, dervish Iljas etc. He is known in history and as a fighter against the rebels, in 1914. The Veliabisht tekke was rebuilt in 1923, a small tekke with few rooms, with a stone wall with regular rows. He died in 1923, and was buried in his village, Aranitas.
In this tekke, father Kamberi, served in the years 1790-1923. Later, father Qazimi, father Lulo Pelivani (1939-1963) served in this tekke. Later, also served dervish Rexhep Veizi from Qafa e Skraparit . The tekke was destroyed by the monist state in 1967. It was reopened in 1999. The new tomb was rebuilt in 2000 by Skrapar's Quarter. Below the tekke, in 2016, a new tomb for dervish Rexhepi was built by his nephew, Avni Veizi.
