Representatives of the union of the politically persecuted demand the creation of a memorial plot for the 4,500 people missing during the dictatorship period.
Besim Ndregjoni, president of the union of former prisoners and political persecuted said that after 30 years there is a silence of politics and justice, while adding that creating a memorial space for people who do not have a grave is an obligation.
“4500 Albanian families have been praying for 30 years to have a grave and they do not have that grave. We will build a national parcel of memory after the State University of Tirana, where the names of 4500 missing people will be listed in the torches of freedom, ”said Ndregjoni.
Representatives of Religious Communities hailed the initiative as a reminder of the people whose lives were macabrely taken by the regime.
It is worth noting that among these 4,500 fallen, 83 were Bektashis.
The Bektashi World Leader, His Grace, Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj, at the same time the Chairman of the Inter Religious Council of Albania, in his speech, among other things, said: “The cemetery shows a development of humanity at different times. Therefore the Prophet Muhammad a.s has a very beautiful saying: – To lose the grave. When you lose the grave, you lose the nation, you lose everything. I wished that together we realize this dream of those people who do not have a grave, to be a memory for the Albanian nation, the Albanian state and the Albanian youth, to know how our country went through the communist period and that the conscience of the nation can not quiet life, without remembering and respecting the rights of those who helped, for this country. “
The relatives of the 4500 missing, pray every day for a grave, where they can light a candle, in honor of the fallen, so the persecuted stressed that the creation of a memorial corner requires attention from the institutions.
